Notes:
This was the first of three concerts that week for Jason and me. For this show, we were on the rail at one end of the stage. This afforded us really great views when one of the band members decided to come down to our area of the stage. I remember we got the opening verse of Creeping Death from James, and then a lot of One from James and the One solo from Kirk from about 6 feet away. I still can't play that damn solo. At the end of the show, I was able to snag one of the drum sticks that Lars threw into the crowd. I'll have to hang that one up somewhere. What we gave up with the great location was the great sound I've typically experienced at Metallica shows. The main speakers were directly overhead and projected over our heads to the rest of the crowd. What we heard was a muddy, drum and bass heavy sound. The performance itself was excellent as always and the setlist surprises were I Disappear and Phantom Lord. I also heard All Nightmare Long for the first time.

I can't blame the horrible sound for how bad Lamb Of God were. I blame Lamb of God for that. It's unfortunate that Gojira was victimized as well because I actually like them. The next night was much better for both bands.
