Notes:
Wait, wait, wait - three bands on the bill that I like? That doesn't happen often enough. Let's start with the openers this time around. Baroness rocked. The Red Album is definitely one of my favorite releases of 2007 and I accidentally missed them the first time they came around to Austin. They played all of the hits from the album - Birthing, Isak, Pinion and of course Wanderlust. I'm not a big fan of Grad, but I'll take 5 out of 6.
High on Fire was fine. I think I like them better on the album. The sludginess of their songs swallowed everything else and it started to sound like one long song. The finer details (what little there are) got lost.
An excellent, career-spanning set from Opeth. Grand Conjuration is an all-time favorite. The Lotus Eater was a good choice from the new album, especially with the jazzy breakdown. That being said, I think I got my fill of Opeth for a while.
