Wolf : Enemy Territory

I haven't gamed in a while, but I started up again with RTCW: Enemy Territory. It's a FREE, standalone game that the developers of Return To Castle Wolfenstein released online. I can't claim to understand their motivations for doing so, but it's a damn fine game.

The premise is this: you are either a member of the Axis or Allied forces and work together as a team to accomplish objectives. Much more complicated than Counterstrike or whatnot - the objectives take a while to learn and you need to work as a team to accomplish them, but it's damn fun once it gets going. And depending on the the map, you either have to work to accomplish the objective or deny the other team from accomplishing those objectives.

Once again, it is FREE, so you can just head over to your favorite gaming webpage if they host it, or you can download the torrent from me. If you don't know what a torrent is, head over to Ram's for some good old fashioned crack dealin'. Once you get it installed (the game I mean), contact me and we'll hit up some servers, or I can host a server, and we can go over how to play.

The Sadness that is Laziness

Today I played racquetball by myself at our apartment's court. I was barely able to make it to the thirty minute mark - there was no one making me run around and I still didn't have the energy for a measly half hour. This is very, very sad. In my defense, I might have been more motivated if there was someone to actually play with, but that isn't going to give me the energy to play the normal 2 hours like we used to.

In other NFL news (thanks Easterbrook), Ram posted some cool code that allows us to see the most recent comments for the various topics on this page. As I have currently posted 50% of them, it is probably not so useful to you guys at the current moment. This can be solved by you guys posting more comments, no matter how inane or worthless they might be.

Have you heard the new Metallica single "St. Anger"? I really like it, but I didn't at first. Don't know if it works the same way with you guys, but the music I really end up liking, I usually dislike at first. The first couple of listens, I felt it was sorta repetitive and it didn't grab me except for a couple of riffs. After giving it a few more listens, I heard some nuances and got a lost more feel our of it. I sorta of expected this to happen - it's worked liked this for every other band I really enjoy.

On a related note, I would give a lot to hear the music I really enjoy now again for the first time. What I mean is, I want to feel that emotion again when you first "get it". This feeling is easily reclaimed by listening to new music (which I am doing now thanks to the wonders of broadband), but I wonder what it would feel like for music I've already heard. Maybe this is asking for something inherently impossible...

Testing the trackback business

Not really sure if this is gonna work, but you can tell if it does by checking moorehill.net and this post will appear there. Cross your fingers...

Feet On An Amp

I told you guys I would finally do it and I sorta did. My page has officially moved to MovableType and I have added all the entries from the previous incarnation of the page. I still haven't figured out how to edit this links table on the left, but I'm sure I can solve that sooner or later. All the pictures are still on the site, just not linked yet - gimme some time. Also, all the links in the previous entries are broken. Again, more time please. Also, this page really isn't personal yet. But it is a start.

All that's left now is to get a domain - I think I can procrastinate some more.

Mamba

Sunanda Ghoshal: April 18, 1981 - May 20, 2003

I never know what to say ever, and this is one of those situations. It is hard to describe what someone means to you - you just know how you feel. Nanda (mamba) was a wonderful person and a wonderful friend and she will be with all of us always.

Couple of new pics pages added: UIUC campus and Chad's place.

Hmm, seems like things are moving along

Happy Birthday Drea - you are also old now :)

It's been so hectic recently that I just realized in a mere 10 days I'll get to see Metallica (yes, another metallica related post - go screw yourselves if this doesn't work for you, hehe). I can't look that far forward just yet though- still a lot more school to complete in a few days.

Scoring 83 point is a half is just sick. Now that C-Webb is out, the Mavs really have a chance to go the Conference finals. If the Lakers make it as well, then I won't mind who wins - hometown team or Kobe's (not Shaq's) team.

Things I want do with this site: 1) buy a domain 2) move to Moveable Type 3) Add the pics of my dorm and campus 4) Add a links page 5) update all the other pages. I think that covers it.

Description of a nerd

Seems like I got Metallica on the brain. I mean I usually have Metallica on the brain, but not to this extent. Icon last night was impressive - the medley and the new song were great. I want the guitar that James used for Frantic - anyone have $800 to throw my way?

Last day of classes today. I've actually gone every single class this semester and last. I've never had a year of perfect attendance - should I actually be bragging about this? I want a gold star or something.

As I currently don't have a job for the summer, I'll probably apply at Fry's when I get back. I *might* be overqualified, but I'm not too proud or stupid. I'll take what I can get.
