So back from India. Quick listing of what happened:
-New Year's Eve party where I was home and in bed before midnight
-Surprise graduation party for me with 100+ family members
-Protocol visits to various family members
-Lot of books
-Lot of kite fights on Sankranti
Books I read during my 3 weeks in India:
Archer - Honor Among Thieves
Clancy - Debt Of Honor
Crichton - A Case Of Need, The Great Train Robbery, Eaters of the Dead, Prey, The Terminal Man
Grisham - The Client, The Runaway Jury
Irving - The World According To Garp
King - Insomnia, Nightmares And Dreamscapes
Martel - The Life Of Pi
Only 4 of those books (Insomnia, Garp, Prey, Life Of Pi) were read for the first time. All the others were read many times before on the many previous vactions to India. All 4 were really good, but the ending to Prey seemed like a cop-out (like most Crichton)
Just bought the Radeon 9600XT today, so I plan on enjoying Deus Ex: Invisible War and Prince of Persia for the next couple weeks. The old GeForce2 MX wasn't going to cut it. The Radeon also comes with a voucher for Half Life 2, so it was completely worth it.
Super Bowl is another defensive game - boring.
And now jet lag claims me...
Posted by hbog at January 19, 2004 11:12 PMdamn dude. that's a whole buttload of reading. (and I'm not talking about some skinny butt either)
how's that 9600XT working out for you? (I decided against the purchase in favour of saving up for a decent chunk of spring break change. HL2 will never come out anyway. it's kinda like TF2...)
Posted by: Dan at January 21, 2004 1:22 PMYes - plenty of reading - passed the time as well as I could.
9600XT is great - currently enjoying Invisible War - Just made it into Germany. Haven't tested too many games - I'll tweak later.
Posted by: G at January 21, 2004 6:12 PMGlad to hear you liked Garp. Why would you re-read so many of those books (Grisham in particular)? Do they not have book stores in India? Is there nothing better to do there than read? When will you be taking a job and moving to Austin?
Posted by: Andrew at January 22, 2004 10:07 PMGood to here you are doing well. Did you get that job you had an interview for?
Sup Duncan,
I actually have a second interview with those guys later this week - so I'm looking forward to that. Have you started work yet?
Posted by: G at January 26, 2004 6:55 PMWhy do you respond to Duncan but not me?
What have I done to deserve this?
Do you not love me anymore?
Say it ain't so darling.
Say it ain't so.
Sorry holmes - many apologies.
Yes - garp was great. So many great situations. I only re-read cause there was nothing else. They had bookstores (which is where I got garp) but we didn't go till later. Not much else to do other than visit people.
I hope to be moving to austin soon. So that I can be closer to you, my love.
Posted by: G at January 26, 2004 11:21 PMNo I didnt start work yet... I start feb 2nd. Looking forward to it financially! ;) We actually just started to move into the new house, which is really really nice. Good luck with the second interview!
Hope all things are well
